How can Health and Human Ecology Professionals enhance the Social Influence?

Abstract

|
On behalf of the ecology, I tried to review the roles of the health and human ecology professionals to enhance social influence, which is focused on the environmental crisis on this planet to maintain peaceful and balanced relationship between human and environment. For twenty years whenever we have been in front of the signs of environmental crisis, something like epidemic diseases and natural disasters, we, the professionals could not do anything else except personal efforts to resolve the problems. Actually we could not be satisfied with those powerless activities, because of many of the health-related NGOs in Korea have been not the real NGOs, which means the NGO doesn’t have the typical roles, but the QUANGOs (quasi-automouse NGOs). Health & ecology professionals should lead and control the public opinions, contribute to maintain the social stability, and give the services for preventing diseases through the international collaborative activities. So we’d better focus on making the health and ecological NGOs more systematic, more organized, and more professional organizations to enhance the social influence for preventing the environmental crisis, for announcing the importance of balance between human and environment, and for emphasizing the sustainability of the development rather than focusing on the personal activities.
